Membership At Blaze Church
Thank you for expressing interest in becoming a member of Blaze Church.
We recognize that every person has a unique definition of what church membership is. Our experiences and expectations help to form that definition. We want to begin by sharing what membership is at Blaze Church.
Being a member of Blaze Church isn’t about rights and privileges. It is about giving abundantly and serving without hesitation. As members of Christ body (according to 1 Corinthians 12:12-26), membership at Blaze Church is about functioning together with other people in order to see our vision and mission accomplished.
Our hope is that people who call Blaze Church their home would grow in their spiritual formation as a disciple of Jesus. We believe that discipleship does not require voting membership status in a local church. We encourage everyone at Blaze Church to be all-in on the many discipleship-growing pathways we regularly cast vision for and make available (i.e. weekend services, small groups, dream teams, etc.).
Being a member of Blaze Church carries very important privileges. As such, the requirements to become a voting member have been appropriately determined.
Voting members play an important role regarding trustee election, sale/purchase of property, and other major decisions.
Our definition of a voting member at Blaze Church comes from Jesus, “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:26-28)
